Quantum Theory II (8.322) and Relativistic Quantum Field Theory I (8.323)

Texts

Three books will be useful in this course. A third of the material to be covered will be from Brown's book, and the rest mostly from Peskin's and Weinberg's.

A modern path integral presentation of QFT. Covers QED but not QCD.

Peskin, Michael E., and Daniel V. Schroeder. An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory. Reading, MA: Addison-Wesley, 1995. ISBN: 0201503972.
A comprehensive and pedagogical treatment of QFT starting from the basics and reaching up to the physics of the standard model.

Weinberg, S. The Quantum Theory of Fields. Vol. 2: Modern Applications. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press, 1996. ISBN: 0521550025.
A detailed presentation of advanced material.

Homework

There will be 8 homework assignments worth 80% of the grade.

Exams

There will be one 90-minute in-class final exam worth 20% of the grade.
